Kathryn Brown
Associate, Interior Design
Kathryn is a British designer with extensive experience in Hospitality, Residential Commercial and Education. Being based in the UAE for 14 years, she has gained a wealth of knowledge of project process and solutions; varying from briefing and analysis right through to FF & E tendering and site supervision.
Working for 6 years with Godwin Austin Johnson Architects, she led interior teams on several high-profile projects notably for Etihad Head Office Extension, Marsa Al Seef Heritage Hotel on the Creek, Cranleigh School in Abu Dhabi and Arcadia Schools. The design for the Arcadia Ladybird Nursery won the best public building design at the CID Awards. She has also designed several residential schemes such as Serenia on the Palm and Panorama in the Greens.
She gained most of her experience prior to this in London, working for Sheppard Robson Architects, Fitch Benoy and Aukett Associates, specialising in workplace for blue chip companies. Clients were Royal Bank of Scotland, Deutschebank and British Petroleum.
In the Middle East she has developed several successful hospitality projects such as Marsa Al Seef Hilton Heritage Hotel in Al Furjan with Emaar in Jebel Hafeet and previously Sundus Arjaan Hotel Apartments and Restaurants in Muscat.
She has also written several articles for Dubai publications on the process and future of Interior design.
To add another sector to her portfolio, Kathryn has most recently been working on Sharjah Safari Park designing African themed F&B, visitor centres and educational experiences, for children to learn about the natural world and how to protect it for the future. She spent half of 2008 in Central America rehabilitating animals confiscated from smugglers.
