The Dome Gallery
We have referred to historical architectural forms and art to inspire the building forms and reinforce the history of the area. The large stone edged water tanks, both square and circular in form provide a strong statement to follow, together with the variation in stone textures and massiveness of fortress structures.
Inspired the organic Bedouin tent forms of the travelers and the stone edged circular water holes used for watering their animals. The palm inspired tent forms of The Dome Gallery provides natural shade for the masonry structure below.
The masonry enclosure contains the formal galleries whilst the lightweight canopy defines a sheltered area for informal public activities and access to the temporary visiting exhibition area. The domed form of the tented canopy will provide a landmark structure, which is at one with nature and the historical forms of the past.
