The Falkirk Wheel
The Falkirk Wheel was designed by Tony Kettle and his team, whilst at RMJM, to reconnect the Forth of Clyde Canal with the Union Canal lying some 35 metres below. It is the focal point of the Millennium Link which has created a fully navigable waterway between Edinburgh and Glasgow for the first time in almost 70 years.

In addition, there was a need to design and build the visitor centre which now provides dramatic views of the Falkirk Wheel in action. Completed ahead of schedule in 2002 and opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Falkirk Wheel honours the bold vision and imagination behind the Millennium Link itself.
It is a functional sculpture, which both symbolises and celebrates the renaissance of the two canals - and what may yet follow.
