Kettle Collective Shortlisted for Cityscape Awards

Piroz Hotel in Erbil, Iraq

The Piers External View

We are very pleased to announce that Kettle Collective has two projects shortlisted for the 2015 Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets. Shortlisted in the Future Residential category, The Piers takes a unique approach. Located at The Wave peninsula with views into the marina and out to the sea. The Piers V- shaped form allows for a private beach in between the two buildings, which step down towards the water and culminate with impressive villas positioned at the end of each pier. These luxurious villas seemingly float in the ocean with direct and exclusive boat access from the water. The Piroz hotel has been nominated the Future Leisure and Hospitality category. Piroz is part of a building complex that takes its inspiration from the rich historical traditions of the region and fuses them with an exciting contemporary approach. The hotel references the massing of the Ziggurats at Ur, the elevations and organisation of the citadel, and the materiality and textures of Cuneiform tablets. The hotel’s stepped form opens and lightens as you move upwards creating dramatic garden spaces and connecting it to the sky and views. For more information about each of these designs, please visit the The Piers and Piroz project pages. The finalists for the Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets will be announced at an awards evening on the 8th of September in Dubai.
