We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our new team members; Aleksandra, Faye, Adele and Valentin.
Aleksandra has joined our team as a CG Artist within our Ink Graphics Team. Faye has joined our team as an Interior Designer and Adele and Valentin have joined our team as Architectural Assistant Part 1 Interns.
We asked Faye a few questions about her experience as an interior designer:
Why did you choose to study interior design?
I always knew I wanted to do something creative but I also had good technical and mathematical skills. I liked the idea of working on something that required a creative mind as well as a practical mind and thought working with interiors was perfect for me. I have always been interested in interior spaces and how people use and move through spaces. I think my background in dance has also helped me to have a good understanding of this.
What is your most memorable interior space you have been in?
It is of course very difficult to select just one memorable interiors space but one of the most beautiful that I have visited recently is the Kvadrat Headquarters in Denmark. The space feels more like a beautiful architectural home than a work place. The building has a large amount of natural daylight and no matter where you stand you get a view of the vast surrounding landscape. It gives the illusion of there being no barrier between the indoors and outdoors. The interior is mostly white and timber with carefully selected classic furniture pieces. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are ever in Denmark.
What is the last book you read?
The last book I read was ‘The Zoo’ by Isobel Charman, which tells the story of the founding of London Zoo. It takes you through each character involved in establishing the zoo over many years as well as Charles Darwin’s involvement.
What is the most valuable thing you have learnt about interior design so far?
Since working in the industry I have learned more than I can possibly imagine. Each project always brings a new challenge. I have had a lot of experience with furniture in projects and I think one key thing I have learned is how impactful one amazing feature furniture piece can be, especially in something like a large reception. Usually this is the first thing people will interact with, take photographs of etc. in the space.
