15th October
2026

Kettle Collective was founded in Scotland in 2012 by Tony Kettle and Colin Bone, two long-time collaborators who shared a vision: to create an architecture and design studio that would combine world-class creativity with a dynamic, international outlook. Together, they set out to form a studio that would not only design beautiful, sustainable spaces but also shape meaningful narratives across cultures and continents.

From Scotland to the world
Our early projects took us beyond Scotland, with commissions across the Middle East, Asia and Africa. As our work grew, so did our presence. We expanded our Edinburgh studio in 2015, before establishing a permanent base in Dubai Design District in 2016, followed by Muscat in 2018, building closer relationships with the places and communities we work with.
Between 2016 and 2021, projects across different locations, scales and sectors reflected the breadth of our growing portfolio. Ripple Retreat is a lakeside retreat supporting families affected by cancer, while the DEWA Solar Innovation Centre is an exhibition and education facility focused on solar energy. Our designs for Lakhta Center II and III in St Petersburg explore mixed-use towers that combine sustainable design with integrated green spaces. Each brings a distinct response to its setting and purpose.
Our international network continued to develop, with our overseas growth recognised by the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2016, followed by the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2021. A London studio opened in Greenwich Peninsula’s Design District in 2024, followed by New Cairo in 2025. Across our studios, we bring together local understanding and international experience to inform our work.

The practice today
Over the past 14 years, our practice has continued to evolve, growing beyond concept-led architecture to bring together a wider range of design and technical expertise. From architecture, interiors and masterplanning to LDC, BIM, visualisation and technical delivery, our expanding capabilities enable us to support projects from the earliest ideas through to delivery on site.
Today, our team spans five studios, working across disciplines, sectors and geographies. What connects our work is a shared ambition to create thoughtful, enduring places, shaped by their context and the people who use them.
Our most recent major completion, Renfrew Bridge, opened to the public in May 2025, connecting Renfrew and Yoker across the River Clyde. Scotland’s first opening road bridge, it recorded more than 3.5 million crossings in its first year. In the same period, we made our debut in the AJ100 at number 39, rising seven places to number 32 in 2026.
